Containers and Azure Kubernetes Service Foundation is a four-day, hands-on course for technology professionals. It gives a rapid introduction to containers, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service. Students gain hands-on experience with containers, container image builds, and Kubernetes concepts and operations in an AKS environment. Day one covers container and image fundamentals, then moves into Dockerfile best practices and vulnerability scanning. The day closes with Kubernetes and AKS architecture and the kubectl CLI.
Day two moves into Pod basics and Pod architecture design patterns, then Deployments and rollouts. It closes with application configuration using ConfigMaps and the Downward API. Day three covers Kubernetes Services and service types, along with policy-based networking for micro-segmentation. It also covers stateful workloads backed by PVs and PVCs, and additional controllers such as StatefulSets and DaemonSets.
Day four closes with Ingress and Gateway APIs for routing external traffic, along with AKS-specific integration including Azure authentication. It also covers observability practices such as distributed tracing and metrics-driven autoscaling, and a troubleshooting module that walks through diagnosing workload failures. This is a hands-on course, with half of the class time dedicated to lab work. Attendees leave with a clear understanding of container-based ecosystems and how dynamic orchestration platforms manage applications in production on the Azure cloud.
