Containers Foundation gives working developers, SRE, DevOps staff, and other technology professionals a thorough introduction to container technology across two intensive, hands-on days. Day one opens with an OCI container overview module, establishing the standards behind portable images. It then moves into a container tools and technologies module that surveys Docker, Containerd, CRI-O, Podman, and Buildah. A controlling containers module follows, where attendees run and manage containers directly using Docker and Podman commands. Day one closes with advanced container operations, including rootless solutions that avoid running containers with elevated privileges.
Day two shifts to images, opening with a building OCI images module where students work through the image creation process end to end. A registries module covers container distribution standards and the workflows for pushing and pulling images. The course then closes with two Dockerfile modules. These work through the full range of Dockerfile instructions, from basic statements to advanced multi-stage build techniques.
Attendees leave with a clear understanding of Docker, Containerd, CRI-O, Podman, Buildah, and several other key container systems. The course covers container operations in depth and introduces a wide range of commands with supporting lab exercises. It also gives students architectural insight into the Linux kernel technologies that enable containers. Upon completion, attendees have the skills needed to integrate container technology with their development, software supply chain, and deployment processes.
