Fluent Foundation helps working technology professionals master the essentials of Fluent across two intensive, hands-on days. The course covers the key concepts needed to deploy, use, and tailor a production Fluent solution. Attendees learn to collect data from many sources, including application containers, using Fluent’s data input and parsing plugins. The course also covers filtering and formatting logs to multiple destinations, high availability configuration, and a range of best-practice suggestions.
Eight hands-on labs give students practical experience with each part of Fluent. By the end, attendees have an in-depth understanding of Fluent Bit and Fluentd and how to use them to unify logging at scale across the enterprise.
Day one opens with a Fluent Overview module covering installation and configuration of both Fluent Bit and Fluentd side by side. Data Collection & Input Plugins follows, showing attendees how to pull logs from files, containers, and system journals using Fluent’s plugin architecture. Parsing Input Data then turns raw, unstructured log lines into structured records, and Event Streams & Filters closes the day by teaching attendees to tag, route, and filter those records before they reach an output.
Day two shifts to output handling, starting with Managing Non-buffered Outputs for simple, low-latency destinations. Buffered & Time Sliced Outputs covers how Fluent batches records and writes them on a schedule to reduce load on downstream systems. Normalizing Outputs with Formatting teaches attendees to reshape records into the exact structure each destination expects, and the course closes with Extensibility, Scalability & High Availability, where attendees configure Fluent to keep collecting logs even when individual nodes fail.
