HTML5, CSS3 and Responsive Design Foundation is a hands-on, two-day web development course. It helps developers understand modern web technologies and responsive design practices that work across every platform and browser. The course balances theory with practical labs that take students through HTML5 and CSS3 step by step. Attendees leave with the skills to design, build, and deploy robust, flexible, and safe web applications.

Day one starts with HTML’s history and its relationship to XHTML. From there, it moves into HTML5 semantic structure, forms, and media delivery elements that replace older plugin-based approaches. CSS coverage follows, covering cascading rules, external stylesheets, custom classes, and how to override default tag styling. The day then introduces what CSS3 adds and how well browsers support it.

Day two goes deeper into CSS3, covering advanced selectors based on attributes, DOM structure, and pseudo-classes. It also covers visual effects such as font options, opacity, multi-column layouts, and vendor prefixes. Attendees also work with the HTML5 JavaScript API, including cross-domain messaging, web storage, offline application caching, and geolocation. The course closes with responsive web design techniques for adapting layouts, text, and media across different screen sizes and devices. Each topic pairs lecture with hands-on exercises, so students leave having built, styled, and tested real markup rather than just reviewing slides.

Prerequisites

Attendees should have prior web development or scripting background.

Delivery

Available for Instructor-Led (ILT) in-person/onsite training or Virtual Instructor-Led training (VILT) delivery.

Each attendee will require the ability to ssh into a cloud hosted virtual machine (provided with the course). In environments where SSH is not possible, local lab VMs or browser accessible lab systems can be provided. For web-based delivery, participants require an Internet-connected computer capable of teleconferencing.
