Introduction to Ethical Hacking gives participants a foundational understanding of ethical hacking concepts and techniques across two hands-on days. Attendees build the knowledge needed to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in a controlled, legal way. The course covers footprinting and reconnaissance, scanning networks, enumeration, vulnerability analysis, system hacking, malware threats, and cryptography. Through lectures, hands-on labs, and demonstrations, participants gain practical experience with ethical hacking methods and tools. This helps them better understand and defend against real security threats.

Day one moves through the reconnaissance phase in sequence. Footprinting labs gather public information about a target organization, while scanning exercises use network scanners to map live hosts, open ports, and running services. Enumeration labs then pull detailed information directly from discovered services, such as usernames, shares, and configuration data that later stages depend on.

Day two shifts from information gathering to exploitation. Vulnerability analysis labs score and prioritize discovered weaknesses. Attendees then move into guided system hacking exercises, gaining and escalating access on lab targets under close supervision. Malware threats coverage examines how viruses, trojans, and other malicious code operate and spread. The closing cryptography module covers the encryption, hashing, and key management concepts that underpin both attacks and defenses. Throughout, participants document findings the way a professional penetration test report would, connecting each technique back to real organizational risk.

Who Should Attend

Security Engineers, Developers, DevSecOps Engineers and other IT staff

What Attendees Will Learn

Upon completing Introduction to Ethical Hacking, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain ethical hacking methodology and its legal and professional boundaries
  • Perform footprinting and reconnaissance against target systems
  • Scan networks and enumerate systems to identify potential attack surfaces
  • Analyze vulnerabilities and assess their exploitability
  • Execute controlled system hacking exercises in a lab environment
  • Recognize common malware threats and their behavior
  • Apply cryptography fundamentals relevant to defensive and offensive security work

Prerequisites

Attendees should have Linux skills, basic networking skills, and some scripting or programming experience. No prior security or ethical hacking experience is required.

Delivery

Available for Instructor-Led (ILT) in-person/onsite training or Virtual Instructor-Led training (VILT) delivery.

Each attendee will require the ability to ssh into a cloud hosted virtual machine (provided with the course). In environments where SSH is not possible, local lab VMs or browser accessible lab systems can be provided. For web-based delivery, participants require an Internet-connected computer capable of teleconferencing.
