Claude Cowork Introduction gives knowledge workers a hands-on, practical introduction to Cowork. Specifically, Cowork is Anthropic’s agentic AI system for knowledge work, available through Claude Desktop, the web, and mobile apps. Attendees see how Cowork brings the same agentic architecture behind Claude Code to non-technical work. Given a goal, Claude plans a multi-step approach. It reads and edits files in folders the user grants access to, and works through the task rather than responding to one prompt at a time. Researchers, analysts, operations teams, and other knowledge workers leave with the skills to assign and oversee agentic work. They do this productively, without writing any code.
The course covers Cowork’s task and access model in detail. First, attendees learn how users designate specific folders Claude can read, edit, and create files within. They also learn Cowork’s three oversight modes: Manual mode pauses for approval before each action, Auto mode works continuously with automated safety checks, and Skip mode runs unsupervised. This lets attendees match oversight to the stakes of a given task. Cowork reaches for direct integrations first, connecting to everyday tools such as Slack and Google Drive through MCP connectors. When no direct connector exists, Cowork falls back to Claude in Chrome for browser-based work. It uses on-screen computer control only as a last resort. Attendees learn to apply oversight thoughtfully to this last capability, a research preview with its own considerations.
Cowork Projects also keep files, instructions, and task history organized around a single area of work, replacing the need to start from scratch each session. The course walks through common use cases, including file organization and report drafting from scattered source material. It also covers research synthesis across multiple documents. Through lecture and lab work, attendees assign Cowork a real multi-step task. They then see it through from an initial goal to a reviewed, completed deliverable. Upon completion, attendees have the foundational skills to use Claude Cowork productively and responsibly. They can apply it confidently in day-to-day knowledge work.
