AWS Essentials delivers a practical, architecture-focused introduction to cloud computing using Amazon Web Services. Rather than presenting AWS as a collection of isolated services, the course shows how core services work together to form secure, scalable, and highly available systems.
Over three days, participants progress through the foundational layers of AWS architecture. Day 1 focuses on core infrastructure, including identity, compute, and the AWS global environment. Day 2 builds on this foundation with storage, networking, and high availability patterns, so participants can design resilient systems. Day 3 introduces application-level services, including databases, serverless architectures, and observability, completing the picture of a modern cloud-native application stack.
Throughout the course, participants gain hands-on experience deploying and configuring AWS resources while learning to make informed architectural decisions. By the end of the course, learners understand not just how to use AWS services, but how to combine them into production-ready solutions aligned with real-world best practices.
Who Should Attend
Engineers, SREs, SysAdmins, IT Staff, Technical Architects and Developers
What Attendees Will Learn
AWS Essentials ensures participants will be able to:
- Explain core cloud computing concepts and how they are implemented within Amazon Web Services
- Navigate AWS global infrastructure and select appropriate regions and availability zones for workload placement
- Design secure access models using IAM users, roles, and policies following least privilege principles
- Provision and manage compute resources using Amazon EC2, including instance configuration and access control
- Select and implement appropriate storage solutions using Amazon S3 and Amazon EBS based on workload requirements
- Design foundational network architectures using Amazon VPC, including subnets, routing, and connectivity patterns
- Implement high availability and fault tolerance using load balancing and Auto Scaling
- Choose appropriate database solutions using Amazon RDS and DynamoDB based on application needs
- Build event-driven and serverless integrations using AWS Lambda and related services
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS workloads using Amazon CloudWatch
- Apply architectural best practices for scalability, resilience, and operational visibility
Prerequisites
Basic computer literacy and familiarity with command-line interfaces are recommended. No prior AWS experience is required, but a general understanding of IT infrastructure concepts (servers, storage, networking) is beneficial.
