Containers and Kubernetes Accelerated gives technology professionals a rapid, hands-on introduction to containers and container orchestration with Kubernetes across two days. Day one opens with a container overview module covering isolation features such as cgroups and namespaces, then moves into an image overview module where students work with layered file systems and Dockerfiles. A Kubernetes overview module follows, introducing cluster architecture and the control plane. Day one closes with Pod basics, where attendees define resources in YAML and examine how Pods get scheduled.
Day two shifts to running real applications. An application configuration module has students configure workloads with ConfigMaps and Secrets, followed by a Deployments module covering labels, selectors, and rollouts. A Services module then exposes those applications through Kubernetes DNS and the various service types available. The course closes with an observability overview module, where attendees cover logging, distributed tracing, and metrics-driven autoscaling.
Because the course compresses two full ecosystems into two days, every module pairs a short lecture with an immediate hands-on lab, keeping the pace brisk without skipping the reasoning behind each concept. Attendees leave with a clear understanding of the container-based ecosystem and how dynamic orchestration platforms manage applications in a production setting.
Who Should Attend
Developer, DevOps, SRE, IT, Operations and other technical staff
What Attendees Will Learn
Upon completing Containers and Kubernetes Accelerated, attendees will be able to:
- Explain container architecture, isolation features, and how containers compare to virtual machines
- Build and manage container images, including working with registries and tags
- Explain Kubernetes architecture and use kubectl to manage a cluster
- Define and schedule Pods using YAML resource definitions
- Configure applications using ConfigMaps, Secrets, and the Kubernetes Downward API
- Deploy, roll out, and roll back applications using Kubernetes Controllers
- Expose applications using Kubernetes Services, DNS, and the Pod network
- Apply observability practices, including logging, tracing, and metrics-driven autoscaling
Prerequisites
Basic Linux command line skills are valuable but not required, since the course builds container and Kubernetes skills from the ground up.
