React is an intensive, two-day, hands-on course designed to provide engineering staff with a comprehensive overview of what React is, how it compares to other UI development techniques such as Angular, and how to develop web pages using the React library in its intended design environment. Students gain hands-on experience with the latest version of React and the tools for developing React applications.

Beginning with React fundamentals and JSX, the course progresses through components, events, and state management into component architecture, forms, deployment, unit testing, and Redux. Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to build, test, and deploy interactive React interfaces using current best practices.

What Attendees Will Learn

This intensive, hands-on course is designed to provide engineering staff with a comprehensive overview of what React is, how it compares to other UI development techniques such as Angular, and how to develop web pages using the React library. Learning modules include:

  • React fundamentals, architecture, and comparison to other UI frameworks
  • JSX, the Virtual DOM, and React components
  • Events, state, and conditional rendering
  • Component architecture and design patterns
  • Forms, controlled components, and validation
  • Deployment, unit testing, and Redux

Prerequisites

Attendees should have a general technology background and experience programming in a web environment. Each attendee must provide their own laptop capable of running a 64-bit virtual machine, with unconstrained internet access to complete the labs. Alternatively, lab machines in the cloud can be provided.

Delivery

Available for Instructor-Led (ILT) in-person/onsite training or Virtual Instructor-Led training (VILT) delivery.

Each attendee will require the ability to ssh into a cloud hosted virtual machine (provided with the course). In environments where SSH is not possible, local lab VMs or browser accessible lab systems can be provided. For web-based delivery, participants require an Internet-connected computer capable of teleconferencing.
