Containers and Kubernetes for Embedded Systems equips embedded technology professionals with the special considerations that container orchestration demands in resource-constrained settings, across two intensive, hands-on days. Day one opens with a container architecture module, where a lab has students create and run OCI containers directly. A Kubernetes architecture module follows, running a standalone Kubelet to expose the layer beneath the full cluster control plane. The embedded Kubernetes distributions module then has attendees run K3s, a lightweight distribution built for constrained hardware. Day one closes with embedded Pod design, where a lab covers building efficient, resilient Pods suited to limited resources.
Day two moves into scheduling, applying hardware-aware placement so workloads land on nodes with the right capabilities. A module on working with ARM systems follows, building and running ARM-based container workloads, and a Pod hardware access module has students design Pods that reach hardware devices directly. The course closes with an embedded networking module, covering Pod networking in constrained environments.
Lecture pairs with ample hands-on lab sessions, giving attendees real practical experience with embedded solutions and tools. The course addresses embedded concerns such as resource management, air-gapped systems, security, hardware device access and management, resilience, ARM considerations, mixed machine architectures, and efficient networking. Attendees leave with a clear understanding of containers, Kubernetes, and how to apply them across embedded solution settings.
