Kubernetes Introduction gives working technology professionals a solid foundation in Kubernetes over two intensive, hands-on days. Day one covers the platform’s architecture, Pod basics, and application configuration. Day two moves into Deployments, Services, the Gateway API, network policy, and stateful workloads. Labs run throughout, walking attendees through Pod operations, manifest construction, and general best practices, so the concepts stick.

The Pod modules go beyond the basics into multi-container patterns, InitContainers, EphemeralContainers, and resource limits, and every exercise has attendees write and apply their own YAML. Deployment coverage adds labels, selectors, rolling updates, rollbacks, and health checks, while the Services lab compares ClusterIP, NodePort, and LoadBalancer types alongside kube-proxy and cluster DNS. Gateway API exercises cover TLS termination and hostname-based routing, and the network policy lab shows how micro-segmentation restricts traffic between workloads. The closing module walks through volume lifecycles and shows how a StatefulSet handles ordered rolling updates for services like databases and message queues. By the end, attendees have what they need to start using Kubernetes in production.

Who Should Attend

Developers, IT and QA Staff, Technical Managers, DevOps and Build personnel

What Attendees Will Learn

Upon completing Kubernetes Introduction, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain Kubernetes architecture and use the kubectl command line
  • Define and deploy Pods, including multi-container Pod architecture
  • Configure applications using ConfigMaps, Secrets, and the Downward API
  • Deploy applications using Deployments and ReplicaSets with rolling updates
  • Expose applications using Kubernetes Services and the Gateway API
  • Apply network policy for micro-segmentation
  • Manage stateful workloads with PVs, PVCs, and StatefulSets

Prerequisites

Students should have taken the RX-M “Docker Foundation” course or have equivalent knowledge and/or experience with Linux and Linux containers.

Delivery

Available for Instructor-Led (ILT) in-person/onsite training or Virtual Instructor-Led training (VILT) delivery.

Each attendee will require the ability to ssh into a cloud hosted virtual machine (provided with the course). In environments where SSH is not possible, local lab VMs or browser accessible lab systems can be provided. For web-based delivery, participants require an Internet-connected computer capable of teleconferencing.
