OKD and OpenShift for Kubernetes Users is an intensive, three-day course that lets experienced Kubernetes users dive deep into the OKD/OpenShift platform. Day one opens with a PaaS overview and the core concepts and primitives that extend the Kubernetes resources attendees already know. It also covers the OKD/OS Custom Resource Definitions that layer platform-specific behavior on top. Attendees then build container images using Source-to-Image, working with Podman and CRI-O as the underlying container tooling. The day closes with configuring Services and ServiceBindings that connect applications to the resources they depend on.
Day two moves into building and shipping applications. Attendees use Application Templates to standardize and accelerate deployments. They then work through Builds and the Operator Framework that packages and manages complex applications on the platform. The class builds pipelines with Tekton, automating the steps from source to running container. It closes with GitOps workflows that drive cluster state from a Git repository instead of manual changes.
Day three covers serverless and platform-wide operations. Attendees deploy Serverless applications built on KNative, scaling workloads down to zero when idle. They then configure Ingress, Network Policy, and load balancing to control how traffic reaches those workloads. The course finishes with Service Mesh, using Istio and Kiali to manage and visualize traffic between services. It closes with observability, pairing Prometheus metrics with Jaeger tracing to see how requests move through the cluster. Upon course completion, attendees have the knowledge and skill needed to work with the platform effectively. This gives them a base from which to tackle advanced topics.

Prerequisites
Students should have familiarity with containers, a working knowledge of Linux and some familiarity with Kubernetes.
